History of Freie University of Berlin
Freie University Berlin was founded in 1948 by professors and students, in response to the persecution faced by students who took a critical eye of the system at university Unter den Linden, at that time located in the Soviet sector of the divided city. The idea of founding a free university found widespread support in the international community, including financial support.
Education
Studying at Freie University Berlin involves a number of legal and administrative issues that students need to keep in mind. Most information and services are available online. For example, once students have successfully completed the online application and enrollment processes, they can register for classes and exams online via the Campus Management system. Many courses also involve an online (e-learning) component.
Research
Intensive cooperation with other universities and independent research institutions as well as private enterprise reinforces and broadens the fundamental, application, and contract research carried out at Freie University as well as the University position as a competitive research institution on a global scale. The main features of Freie University research activities include the broad variety of global academic and scientific cooperation arrangements in place as part of alliance projects and interdisciplinary networks with other entities active in research.
Career
The Career Service provides information and individual advising with regard to internships, application strategies, occupational fields, study and career prospects, and domestic scholarships.
The Career Service advises and supports students with the organization of their internship abroad and provides information on financing possibilities for the internships. Every Tuesday there are open office hours from 12 to 2 p.m. for issues regarding internships abroad.

Some services and facilities are also available to those not affiliated with the university.
