Rotary is a social organization which focuses to motivate business and professional leaders to provide humanitarian service to the needy. It was founded by Paul P. Harris in 1905 and today it has got more than 1.2 million volunteers.

Rotary is one of the largest charity organization, with the total revenue of 264 million USD in 2014. Its headquarters is in Evanston, Illinois, United States and is present over 200 countries.

Globally, there are more than 35,000 Rotary members club and they work with the motto of “Service Above Self”. Rotary focuses on Promoting Peace, Fighting Disease, Providing Clean Water, Saving Mother & Children, Supporting Education and Growing Local Economies.

Rotary International is one of the 4-star charity organization. It is rated by Charity Navigator, which the highest level. Also, it has the award of”Top 10 Charities changing the world” in 2016 by CNBC. Also, it is one of the oldest charity organization as it has a century-long history of serving people.

Currently, it is working with AmazonSmile, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, Global FoodBanking Network, Peace Corps, ShelterBox, UNICEF, U.S.

Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, World Health Organization, Youth Service America and U.S. Agency for International Development, to end polio, provide disaster relief and provide clean water for people.

Polio

Out of total donation, they spend 91% of the donation is directly on programs and campaigns that support the needy. And, out of 91% of the direct donation, they use most of the donation to end polio. 

Currently, ending polio is one its major concern, Rotary along with its partners and volunteers have been contributing to eradicating it.  As a result, it has been able to immunize more than 2.5 billion children’s in 122 countries. It has been reducing polio by 99.9% since 1979.

To eradicate polio, Rotary is also generating donations from individuals & asking individuals to advocate and aware of their friends and families.

In a nutshell, Rotary International believes they are people of action as they connect passionate people from diverse background and ideas to take action and change the world.

They believe they are problem-solvers as they apply professional experience to find and tackle the problems in the society. Also, they help in creating opportunities in the community by investing in it and finding out the best people for the next generation.
