Victoria Falls is situated in southern Africa on the Zambezi river. It flows from the height of 108 m with the average flow rate of 1088 m^3/s. This fall is also known as Mosi-oa-Tunya which means The Smoke That Thunders.Victoria Falls is roughly double the height of Niagara Falls as well as twice the width of Hourseshoe Falls making it the world’s largest sheet of falling water.

History behind name

It is believed that David Livingstone (Scottish missionary and explorer) was the first person to explore this place in 1855. He honour this place in the name of Queen Victoria of Britain as a reason this place is named as Victoria Falls


Victoria Falls is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the world as described by CNN. Victoria Falls was designated in the year 1989 and almost 400,000 visitors visited the places by 1990. Yearly, millions of tourists visit this place and most of them are Americans. Around 2 million tourists visited here, in the year 2015 and the number is growing rapidly. Besides, falls you can get refreshed visiting the national parks here. The national park is called as Victoria Falls National Park and its covers the area of around 16,309 acres.
